DC Mayor: Contact Mayor Fenty and ask him to work with his government agencies to submit letters opposing this use of public space. Key points:

  • The owners have no integrity – they have allowed the existing land to be source of disorder and criminal activity in our community
  • This project will over saturate our neighborhood with gas stations
  • Shell can afford to buy a larger property that doesn’t require a public subsidy of free land
  • This project violates the principals laid out by the community in the H Street Revitalization Plan
  • This project violates the DC comprehensive plan
  • violates the L’Enfant plan and 1870 parking act
  • violates integrity of the Maryland Avenue corridor view shed of the US Capitol
